Appearance:
Flattened body; always 5 arms surrounded by a strikingly regular, comb-like, brownish-coloured row of spines. Feet partly with sucking discs. Upper side dark to brown-olive coloured.
Behaviour:
With the suction discs on its feet, the climbing comb starfish is the only species of the genus Astropecten in the Mediterranean that is capable of climbing.
