Abstract Writing Workshop

Thursday 12th March 11.00-12.30 (GMT)

Abstract Writing Workshops are interactive sessions guided by a member of the ICUR organising team. You'll learn more about research dissemination and why it's important; you'll hear more about interdisciplinary communities of research, and how exploring and networking within people outside your discipline could benefit you; and you'll work on an abstract using the IATL Method. By the end of the session, you'll have a working draft of an abstract which you can submit to ICUR 2026!

Information Sessions - What is ICUR?

Our introductory What is ICUR? sessions are hosted by the ICUR staff and Student Director team, and cover everything you need to know before submitting. They're a great opportunity to ask the team anything you're wondering about - there are no silly questions! - and to get a sense of whether ICUR is the right opportunity for you before you start the programme.

Abstract Writing Workshops

Maybe you've presented at conferences before - or maybe you're not even sure what an abstract is? Whatever your experience, our Abstract Writing Workshops will set you up with all the tools you need to write a research abstract for the ICUR conference.
We'll discuss the purpose of an interdisciplinary research abstract, and how to consider your audience; we'll look at structure and content and talk about how we communicate complex ideas in limited word counts; and we'll work together to identify the characteristics of a strong conference abstract. By the end of the session, you'll have the outline of an abstract for your own research, and all the resources you need to develop it for submission to ICUR.

Abstract Writing Boot Camps

Have you been working on your abstract - but feel lost, confused, or not very confident? Or have you been thinking about submitting to ICUR, but not found the time?
Our Abstract Writing Boot Camps are an opportunity to set aside some protected time just to focus on your ICUR submission - but also to ask questions directly over Teams and get one-to-one support from the ICUR team in real time.
