- The teacher training programme at the University of Oldenburg is divided into Bachelor's (polyvalent) and Master's programmes. This is the first phase of the teacher training programme. The second phase - the preparatory service - is provided by the Studienseminar, while the third phase is supported by the Oldenburg Training Centre (OFZ) through further education and training in the profession. All three phases are closely interlinked.
- In August 2024, the Presidential Board awarded the Oldenburg model of teacher training the seal of quality for studying and teaching at the University of Oldenburg. This confirms the fulfilment of the criteria of the university's own quality management system. The seal of quality is valid until 30 September 2030. The Oldenburg model of teacher training includes the following sub-degree programmes: two-subject Bachelor's degree with a school career goal, Master of Education Primary School, Master of Education Secondary School. Master of Education Gymnasium, Master of Education Sonderpädagogik and Master of Education Business Education.
- The University of Oldenburg is the only university in Lower Saxony at which all five possible teaching degree programmes can be studied (Master of Education Grundschule, Haupt-/Realschule, Gymnasium, Special Education and Business Education).
- The compulsory internships in the Bachelor's degree programme (general school internship) and in the Master's degree programme (specialist internship, research and development internship, six-month practical phase) provide a link between theory and practice in teacher training.
- Further practical experience can be gained in numerous modules of the teacher training programme, for example in the 11 teaching-learning rooms(OLELA), where students and pupils meet.
