Learning processes in the transitional space - empirically investigating and modelling the practical phases of student teachers (LÜP)

What factors favour the success of future teachers? Internships are an essential part of the teacher training programme. What is taught and learnt at university is to be applied by student teachers at school. But what happens during the transition from university to school? And what is transferred from school back to university? What do the learning processes and findings look like? The work of thirteen doctoral candidates on the doctoral programme "Learning processes in the transitional space - empirically investigating and modelling the practical phases of student teachers" (LÜP) explores these questions. They would like to present the findings from their surveys and discuss them with you.

We would like to invite you to join us!

Since April 2013, the LÜP doctoral programme has been focusing on the learning processes of student teachers in various subjects in the "transitional space" between theory and practice, which is represented by the practical phases that are part of the university degree programme. It has set itself the goal of developing a model that describes the reciprocal influences of theoretical knowledge, which is formed at university, and practical skills, which are needed for teaching practice, in the learning processes of students in their dual role as learners and teachers. The students' cognitive processes can be of great interest to teachers in particular: How can teachers, as important experts who guide students on their work placement, provide them with targeted support?

We hope to provide answers to these questions in the series of lectures "Teacher training in the focus of research" of the doctoral programme "Learning processes in the transitional space - empirically investigating and modelling practical phases of student teachers" (LÜP).

All events will take place on Wednesdays from 18:00 to 20:00 (s.t.).

The lecture "Research on internships in teacher training: Intentions, Structures, Effects" by Prof. Dr Alexander Gröschner from the Chair of School Pedagogy and Teaching Research at Friedrich Schiller University Jena on Wed, 27/04/16 at 18:00 in the library hall (BIS-Saal) at the University of Oldenburg.

Further information can be found here.

The individual lectures of the doctoral candidates will be held from Wed, 11.05.16 to Wed, 29.06.16 in the Smart HouseSchlossplatz 16, 26122 Oldenburg in event room 1.
