Education for sustainable development / ESD
The topic of education for sustainable development is more urgent than ever, especially in times of the energy transition in Germany and the unresolved climate and environmental problems around the world. But what does education for sustainable development actually mean? And how can ESD be anchored in schools or lessons?
Education for sustainable development is a tried and tested way of tackling the ecological, economic and social problems of our time and preparing pupils in general education schools in particular to use natural and social resources responsibly.
In order to support teachers in this endeavour, the Oldenburg Training Centre has compiled and developed various training courses that illustrate the breadth of ESD and offer points of reference in various school contexts.

Online self-study course "ESD Compass - From the basics to practice"
The ESD advisory service of the regional state offices has developed a self-study course that provides basic knowledge on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and offers practical ideas for implementation in schools - from school development to lesson planning. The course is divided into several modules and is primarily aimed at ESD contact persons, but also provides school management and all those interested in school development with a wide range of impulses to strengthen their work.
The online course "BNE-Kompass - Von den Grundlagen bis zur Praxis" is located in the central instance of the E-Learning-Centre (ELEC). Once you have registered, the course is available to you for an unlimited period of time for independent study. You can register for the ESD Compass via the Lower Saxony Learning Centre NLC(https://nlc.info/app/edb/event/46856). After registering, you will be assigned to the course "ESD Compass - From the basics to practice" in the ELEC and can find it under the "My courses" tab.
