Carolina Weyh
Carolina Weyh is a postdoctoral researcher in the fields of Music Education and Digital Education and Schooling. Her research focuses on diversity-related issues in music education, discourse research in music education, and AI in (music) education.
She is currently working on the RECOMPOSE research project (Recomposing the Blackbox – Critical Education through AI-Powered Music Generation) and is investigating how a special AI-supported platform for music production can promote critical AI skills among students and teachers. The project focuses both on demystifying the mechanisms and highlighting the social impact of AI technologies.
Curriculum vitae
After completing her teacher training (music, history; University of Kassel), Carolina Weyh taught at a vocational and a general secondary school and finally completed her preparatory service in Hesse at the Kassel Teacher Training College. Working as a research assistant and lecturer (University of Osnabrück), where she focused on topics related to diversity (anti-racist music education, gender sensitivity, and participation in music education), deepened her interest in diversity-related issues in music education. In the spring of 2025, she completed her doctoral studies with a dissertation entitled Reflecting on Constructions of "the Other": Discourse Analysis of the Use of "the Other" in Academic Music Education at the Institute for Musicology and Music Education at the University of Osnabrück.
She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg on the RECOMPOSE project (Recomposing the Blackbox – Critical Education through AI-Powered Music Generation).
Carolina Weyh's research interests lie particularly in the areas of diversity and music education, culturally reflective music pedagogy, music education discourse research, AI and music education. Carolina Weyh's experience as a percussionist, keyboardist, and workshop leader in school and extracurricular projects ultimately contributes to her interest in combining music education research and school practice.
