Forschungsinteresse
Meine Forschung zielt darauf ab, zu verstehen, wie Insekten verschiedene sensorische Reize bei der Navigation integrieren. Als Doktorand im Labor von Wolfgang Rössler an der Universität Würzburg (Deutschland) habe ich untersucht, wie Cataglyphis-Ameisen ihre Navigationssysteme vor der Futtersuche einrichten und kalibrieren. Mithilfe einer Kombination aus modernsten neurobiologischen Methoden und Verhaltensversuchen im Freiland in Griechenland und Tunesien untersuchte ich die Bedeutung magnetischer Informationen für das Navigationsverhalten der Ameisen sowie die neuronale Plastizität im Gehirn.
Als MSCA-Postdoktorand im Labor von Basil el Jundi (NTNU Trondheim, Norwegen) untersuche ich das Migrationsverhalten des Monarchfalters (Danaus plexippus). Durch die Kombination von verhaltensbiologischen und elektrophysiologischen Ansätzen möchte ich die Integration verschiedener sensorischer Reize für die Wanderung untersuchen. Mein besonderes Interesse gilt dabei der Wechselwirkung zwischen dem zeitkompensierten Sonnenkompass und dem Magnetkompass bei Monarchfaltern
