Working title of the doctoral project

Empirical lifeworld orientation: Political music in political education. A political didactic and youth sociological study

Abstract

The doctoral project is dedicated to the empirical investigation of the didactic principle of lifeworld orientation. Using the example of the use of political music in politics lessons, the possibilities and limitations of lifeworld-orientated political didactics will be explored and teaching/learning processes in heterogeneous school classes will be examined. The question arises as to what extent the diversity of learners (in terms of life situations, attitudes, abilities, etc.) becomes visible and reflectable in the classroom through the reference to the lifeworld. The core of the qualitative study is the development, implementation and evaluation of a teaching unit on social transformation processes using the everyday medium of political music. In order to gain insights into political education processes and learning conditions, guided interviews are conducted with participating pupils, focussing on their lifeworld orientations and experiences with political music
