Lecture by John Hattie, currently the world's most influential educational researcher in the field of school pedagogy, on 17 April 2013 at the University of Oldenburg to mark the publication of the translation of his work "Visible Learning".

John Hattie, Professor at the University of Melbourne, published a book in 2009 that sheds a different light on good teaching in schools. Hattie states that teachers need a broader understanding of the role of their academic appointment - because they are the ones who matter most when it comes to the success of learning processes at school. Hattie has compared and summarised numerous empirical studies and published a synthesis of over 800 meta-analyses as part of his book "Visible Learning" in 2009.

During the lecture, Hattie will present the approach used in his study and its key findings. At the same time, the German translation of the study will be presented by Prof Dr Klaus Zierer and Prof Dr Wolfgang Beywl (FHNW Aarau), who translated and revised John Hattie's book into German.

It is Hattie's only lecture in the Federal Republic of Germany during his trip to Europe in the first half of the year. Hattie is currently being discussed in many renowned publications, newspapers and the media. His study will have a lasting impact on the educational landscape in the coming years.
