The use of complex, non-textual data and documents (e.g. graphics, music, video, "learning units") is becoming increasingly important. However, today's digital libraries do not support this data adequately, as they are based on documents that can be described textually.

The aim of PG PROBADO is to develop a digital library that supports semi-automatic content-based indexing and the provision of multimedia learning units. An integrated workflow supports in particular the document setting, search and delivery. Aspects of ongoing maintenance, long-term availability and changing document formats are also to be taken into account.
