The Carl von Ossietzky Composition Prize was awarded for the thirteenth time this year by the Institute of Music at the University of Oldenburg.

The ensembles for which the competition is organised change from year to year. In this way, a continuously growing repertoire of compositions of medium difficulty is created, which brings together pupils, students and amateurs from different styles to play together.

The 13th Carl von Ossietzky Composition Prize was awarded for compositions for wind ensembles. 55 works from 14 countries were submitted. The jury (Siegrid Ernst, Violeta Dinescu, Christoph Keller, Peter Vollhardt and Michael Searby) decided to honour the following compositions:

1st prize: Takahiro Sakuma (Sendai, Miyagi/Japan) for Shining Paraná

2nd prize: Dominik Dieterle (Mannheim) for MA

The 3rd prize is shared and goes to:
