Results of the 14th composition competition

Dear composers,

We, the jury of the Carl von Ossietzky Composition Competition, are very happy to announce the results of the14th edition. We were overwhelmed by the number of works (more than 200) and the high quality of the compositions that were sent to us. Many thanks to You all for contributing in making this Competition a unique event in the cultural scene of Oldenburg and the North-Western Region of Germany.

The first prize (1.000 Euro) goes to: Jona Kümper for Musica viva Three Variations for Piano

The second prize (700 Euro) goes to: Kaiyi Kao for Kontrast for piano

The third prize (500 Euro) has been divided and goes to:

Carl von Ossietzky Composition Prize

14th International Competition

For 2014, the Institute of Music is organising this competition for solo piano, four hands or two pianos. The aim is to expand the repertoire, which has been continuously built up through this competition in recent years, with works for this instrumentation.

The level of difficulty of the pieces submitted should offer both advanced pupils and experienced amateurs as well as students new challenges and experiences that can be mastered in terms of playing technique. The jury will award three main prizes and one junior prize.

Performance time maximum 10 minutes

The compositions must not have been published or performed before. There is no age limit. The content of the works is optional.
