Research at the Department of Information Systems in the field of "Evaluation of product development processes" uses semantic models to visualise complex issues in product development. For example, product models from different phases of development are linked with each other in order to obtain information on the current state of development.

The "Permeter" software developed in the department uses the "MatrixBrowser" tool to process these models graphically. This is intended to provide the user with an intuitive interface for editing links between models. Concepts are related to each other by editable nodes in a matrix. However, complexity and performance problems still need to be solved for larger models. The following questions and tasks can be dealt with in this work, depending on the idea and scope:

• Improving the performance and user interface of the MatrixBrowser (Swing).
• Development of further concepts for navigation and manipulation of networks in the MatrixBrowser.
• Porting / reimplementation of the MatrixBrowser from Java Swing to Eclipse SWT.

The software "Permeter" is based on the Eclipse Rich Client Platform. Prior knowledge in the following areas is advantageous, but can also be acquired:
