The Department of Educational Sciences at the School of Educational and Social Sciences seeks applications for a

Professorship in Educational Psychology
salary scale W3 (m/f/x)

as soon as possible.

This role encompasses the entire scope of educational psychology, with teaching primarily in pre-service teacher training and in the educational science degree programmes.

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in the field of educational psychology, with a research focus on school and teaching-related issues, as well as the psychology of teaching and learning.
  • A proven track record of significant research, particularly in developmental psychology and human learning processes.
  • International publications and a proven ability to secure third-party funding both independently and collaboratively.

Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Focus:

The University of Oldenburg prides itself on promoting interdisciplinary collaborative research (e.g. on digitalization and digitality). The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with colleagues from the Institutes of Education, Special and Rehabilitation Education, and other faculties. Active participation in cross-faculty research, practical and further education initiatives is also a key aspect of the role.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage actively with the Centre for Teacher Training – Didactic Centre (DiZ), including its structures for further training and acquiring research funding. As the University of Oldenburg and the University of Bremen are bound by a cooperation agreement, active participation in the cooperation is expected.

Prerequisites for employment are specified in section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG). A completed degree in psychology or a comparable subject is required.

Professorships with a functional description involving duties in education science or didactics can only be filled with candidates who can additionally provide evidence of at least three years of practical experience at a school or suitable pedagogical experience, or appropriate empirical research experience corresponding to these duties.
