The System of Plants section contains around 600 plant species, mostly hardy perennials from all over the world, organised by relationship.

The aim is to show as many plant families as possible. The beds each have uniform sign colours and are built like ovals rising outwards to emphasise the fact that the plants they contain belong together.

The information on the signs essentially corresponds to the content of a course for biology students at the university.
