20 - 21 November 2025
On 20 and 21 November 2025, Prof. Godt (UOL) and Prof. Ciacchi (RUG) hosted a workshop on the "Transsystemic Method" in comparative law teaching (hybrid implementation), supported by their colleagues Prof. Rott (UOL) and Prof. Hoops (RUG) and financed by the cooperation fund of the Universities of Groningen and Oldenburg.
This transsystemic method was introduced at McGill University, Montreal, in the mid-1990s and was the inspiration for the Hanse Law School (HLS) when it was founded in 2001.
This method is currently being critically discussed at McGill University. This discussion and the modern functionality of comparative law as a curricular concept were at the centre of the workshop. A special feature was also the treatment of the comparative law method in internationalised areas of law, such as environmental law and information technology.
The workshop programme is available here."
19 November 2025
On 19 November 2025, Prof. Godt hosted a workshop on "Sustainability Principles", financed with funds from School II.
The opening presentation was given by Andreas Versmann (PS4SD), who has himself developed "Regulatory Impact Assessments" for the EU Commission, in which "sustainability" has played a decisive role since the Green Deal.
The workshop programme is available here.
Unfortunately, we forgot to take a photo of the speakers and participants. An impression of the dinner can be found here.
17 - 18 July 2025
On 17 and 18 July 2025, the final conference of the DFG project "Alternative models to the bilateral arrangement of Access to Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Benefit Sharing", led by Dr Evanson Kamau, took place in the Senate Hall of the University of Oldenburg.
The results of the three-year international research project were presented(to the programme). The work will be published by Springer next year.
03 - 05 June 2025
From 3 to 5 June 2025, the first workshop of a four-part Franco-German workshop series "New issues in maritime and port-related law", organised by the University of Oldenburg (lead: Prof. C. Godt), took place with the aim of bringing the two partner universities of Oldenburg and LeHavre closer together in terms of research.
This first workshop dealt with competition law issues(see programme). The next workshop will take place in LeHavre from 7-10 Oct. 2025 and will be dedicated to environmental issues.
23 - 24 January 2025
In this winter semester 2024/25, Prof. Dr Godt again conducted her HLS seminar "Comparative Property Law" with two colleagues, this time in separate block dates. The first date with Prof. Dr Holligan (University of Sussex) in November 2024 (unfortunately no photo!) was entirely dedicated to property law in common law, the second with Prof. Dr van Erp (photos) focused on property law issues in the context of digitalisation and biotechnological research.
