"LeHavre-Oldenburg" cooperation agreement accepted by the university management in LeHavre

The Hanse Law School co-operation agreement between the Universities of LeHavre and the CvO-Oldenburg (including the co-operation with the University of Bremen) was approved by the University Senate of the University of LeHavre on 19 Dec. 2013. The exchange of students can begin once the examination regulations have been adopted.

Prof Dr C. Godt and Prof A. Clarke taught the comparative law course "Comparative Property Law" together for the fourth time in the winter semester 2013/14 ("co-teaching"). The dates of the course, which was organised as a block seminar: 1/2 November 2013 (location: Haus der Wissenschaft in Bremen); 6/7 December 2013 (location: "Smart House Oldenburg").
Inspection for the second reaccreditation of the hanse law school

On 9 July 2013, the Hanse Law School will be "inspected" by the agency AQAS (Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Degree Programmes) in Oldenburg as part of the second reaccreditation process. The expert committee is made up of top-class members and includes Prof. Dr Hildegard Schneider (Maastricht University), Prof. Dr Albrecht Drobnig (Cologne University of Applied Sciences), Dr Axel Hagedorn (lawyer at the law firm Van Diepen Van der Kroef Advocaten in Amsterdam), Ms Schulz (student at the University of Greifswald) and Mr Schultze (AQAS). The committee will initially hold talks with the heads of all three universities cooperating under the umbrella of the Hanse Law School, Oldenburg, Bremen and Groningen, listen to the students and question all three universities. The Hanse Law School is looking forward to the appointment. It is in an excellent position with the reform of the regulations. The successful placement of graduates on the European job market confirms the innovative training model.
Workshop series of the chair - Lectures R. Curzel & D. Chatterjee

On 2 July 2013, Ms Renata Curzel and Mr David Chatterjee will present the status of their research work as "external doctoral candidates" at the chair of Prof. Dr Godt. Both theses deal with international pharmaceutical patent law. Ms Curzel's research project focuses on the co-operation between the Ministry of Health and the Patent Office under Brazilian patent law. Based on the recent Novartis case, Mr Chatterjee deals with the restrictive granting of patents under Indian patent law (so-called "ever-greening"). In order to enable Prof. Dr Falke's participation, the event will take place in Bremen (Centre for European Legal Policy "Café Europa").
Moot Court "European Union Law"

Once again, a moot court was held under the auspices of the Hanse Law School under the direction of Dr Ivo Joswig, Chair of the Regional Court of Oldenburg and lecturer at the University of Oldenburg, where students were able to test and demonstrate not only their legal knowledge but also their presentation skills. This time, Judge Joswig had taken up a current dispute pending before the European Court of Justice, but not yet decided, concerning the right to delete an old essay in a student newspaper.
Prof dr godt - member of the kairosis board of trustees

Prof Dr Godt has been appointed as a trustee of the non-profit foundation Kairosis(www.kairosis.de). The foundation is committed to the integration of people of all nations in major German cities.
Prof Dr Godt:
I supported Kairosis because the "inclusive society" is the future (but also the challenge) of our cities.
Mrs Bick takes on new task

The long-standing colleague of Prof Dr Dr h.c. G. Frank and Prof Dr C. Godt, Christina Bick, is taking on a new role. On 1 July 2013, she will join ELV Elektronik AG in Leer and leave the university, and both chairs regret the loss and wish Ms Bick all the best.
First volume of the new "hanse law school - Series" published

After a long production process, the first volume of the new "Hanse Law School - Series" was published today.
The volume documents the written contributions of the first Hanse Law School Conference in May 2010, which took place on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Hanse Law School. The new design takes up the image of the lighthouse that appeared on the first posters of the Hanse Law School ten years ago.
With Wolf Legal Publishers, we have found a publishing house that will now manage the series. The publications will appear in the form of "print-on-demand". Digital copies can be downloaded from the HLS website after six months. The series will include outstanding theses, doctoral dissertations and conference documentation (after strict selection by the editorial board).

On 19 June 2013, two academics were invited by Prof. Dr Godt to present their research findings as part of the chair's workshop series: Dr Nina Lück spoke on European cultural protection. She will take up a DAAD lectureship at the University of Sheffield in autumn. Dr Ulrich Meyerholt presented his project on knowledge management, which he is conducting with two colleagues from Business Administration. The publication of the results
is imminent.

On 5 June 2013, Dr Victoria Chege gave a presentation on "International Networking of Clinical Trials", an excerpt from her current research project on "International Health Law", as part of the chair's workshop series.

On 3 June 2013, Ms Imke Goller-Wilberg, Managing Director of "human leas" - a recruitment agency for legal executives - taught HLS students how to apply for and negotiate jobs in the legal appointments market. Her presentation entitled "Entrance gate "Double honours exam"?" encouraged the students to confidently conquer the professional market with the HLS degrees LL.B. and LL.M.. There is a high demand for lawyers trained in comparative law and with a European orientation. The idea that State Examination qualifications are a seal of quality is widespread, especially among older people responsible for personnel management. However, international organisations and businesses are looking for managers with international qualifications - and HR departments do indeed "read" applications. It is important to describe and emphasise the skills you have acquired. The special features of the Hanse Law School programme prove to be an advantage in the competitive situation of the application, as they set the graduate apart from the competition.

At the workshop "Ex Rerum Natur Ius-Sachzwang und Problemwahrnehmung im Umweltrecht", which was organised on 17 May 2013 in honour of Prof. Dr. Gerd Winter, Head of the European Environmental Law Research Centre at the University of Bremen by his former colleagues Dr. Till Markus and Dr. Olaf Dilling, Prof. Dr. Godt spoke on the topic: "Economic Instruments in Environmental Policies: Expectations met?". The contributions of the workshop will be made available to the public in a conference volume (Schriftenreihe Umweltrecht bei Nomos).
Prof Dr Godt - nominated as an extraordinary member of the Drug Commission of the German Medical Association

Prof Dr Wolf-Dieter Ludwig, Chair of the Drug Commission of the German Medical Association, nominates Prof Dr Godt as an extraordinary member of the Commission(www.akgae.de). She would then be the second legal member of the Commission alongside Prof Dr Dieter Hart, Emeritus Professor at the University of Bremen. The Executive Board will decide on her academic appointment at its next meeting on 30 August 2013.
Lecture "Pharmaceutical supply in the focus of medical law"

On 21 February 2013, Prof. Dr Godt will give a lecture on the topic of "Drug supply in the focus of medical law" at the invitation of Prof. Dr W.-D. Ludwig (Drug Commission of the German Medical Association) at the industry meeting "Oncology", which deals with the topic: "Supply bottlenecks in pharmaceuticals - Is oncological care threatened with collapse?". (Lecture venue: Saarland State Representation, In den Ministergärten 4.)
