Getting here
Anyone not from Oldenburg who is travelling by car should allow plenty of time to find a parking space. There are several parking options around the campus, including car parks and multi-storey car parks.
If you’re travelling to the campus by bus for the first time on Monday morning, you can use the following bus routes:
- 306 Universität
- 310 Ofen/Famila
- S35 Westerstede
- 350 Westerstede
- 324 BBS Wechloy (takes a bit longer from the city centre)
The bus stop is called ‘Uni / Campus Haarentor’. Make sure to allow a bit of extra time here too, as the buses get quite full during rush hour and especially during orientation week.
If you’re coming from further afield and travelling by train, you can use “Oldenburg-Wechloy” station. From there, it’s still about a 10-minute walk, but you’ll usually get to the uni quicker than if you catch a bus from the station.
Catering
With such a packed programme, you’re bound to get hungry at some point. We’d ask you to bring your own food. The Student council will provide snacks and drinks, but these certainly won’t keep you going all day. You’re, of course, also welcome to eat at the canteen and cafeteria – just do bear in mind the opening hours, so you don’t end up standing in front of a closed door with a rumbling stomach. Alternatively, there are Combi and Denns outlets near the campus.
General Rules
We want all participants in the orientation week to feel at home here. We therefore ask that all participants treat one another with respect. Should anyone put themselves and/or others at risk, we reserve the right to exclude them from the remaining events of the orientation week.
Buddy Scheme
The Buddy Programme is aimed at all first-year students studying Pedagogy (BA; including those with a second subject), Educational Practice in a Migration Society (BA) and Educational Sciences (MA). It is designed to be an accessible way to get to know other students in your year group, discover Oldenburg and your degree programme, and have people by your side who can answer your questions (even if you haven’t asked them yet).
The groups consist of around 10–15 freshers and 2 buddies, who are studying Education in a higher year and some of whom are members of the FSR. They’ll still be there for you even after Orientation Week. Within your groups, you decide what you want to do together. This could be events organised by the FSR, the university or something completely different. Everyone can suggest what they’d like to get up to.
We’ve tried our best to create a diverse range of activities and organise them in a way that makes sense. But if you fancy a more relaxed evening with a few people (from your buddy group), you won’t be missing out on anything, and others will be glad of the suggestion.

Freshers’ Trip 2026
Once again this year, we warmly invite you to join us on our freshers’ trip! Over the Halloween weekend, from 30 October to 1 November 2026, we’ll be heading off together to Haus Helgoland in Großefehn, where we’ll enjoy a varied programme packed with lots of different activities.
The trip offers the perfect opportunity to get to know each other better, make new friends and have a really great time together. We’ll tailor the programme to your wishes and interests to ensure there’s something for everyone.

O-Weeks Schedule 5–9 October 2026
The name says it all. We want to help you find your feet at the start of your degree, get to know your fellow students and the campus, and spend time together. Our orientation week will take place at the Haarentor Campus.

Offizielle Begrüßung der Universität
Hier werden die neuen Studierenden vom Präsidenten der Carl von Ossietzky Universität am Campus begrüßt. Diese Veranstaltung bildet den Auftakt zur Orientierungswoche.

Campusführung
Bei der Campusführung lernt ihr die wichtigsten Orte am Campus Haarentor kennen.
Wir finden uns spontan zusammen und führen euch über den Campus. Ihr könnt die Campusführung auch in euren Buddy-Gruppen machen.

Fachvorstellung: Pädagogisches Handeln in der Migrationsgesellschaft
Lehrende aus dem Bereich Pädagogisches Handeln in der Migrationsgesellschaft stellen den Studiengang, ihre Arbeitsschwerpunkte und die Besonderheiten des Studiums an der Carl von Ossietzky Universität vor.

FSR-Begrüßung & Kennenlernen
Auch wir möchten euch herzlich am Campus Haarentor willkommen heißen, uns kurz vorstellen und euch den weiteren Ablauf der Orientierungswoche näherbringen. Hier steht die Vernetzung der neuen Studierenden im Vordergrund. Wir bieten euch Raum, euch gegenseitig kennenzulernen und miteinander ins Gespräch zu kommen.

Kneipenabend (KneiPäd)
KneiPäd ist unser monatliches Format: unverbindlich in einer Kneipe oder Bar treffen, quatschen, Spiele spielen oder sich über alles Mögliche austauschen. Die Teilnahme ist unabhängig vom Alkoholkonsum – wir wählen Lokale mit einem breiten Angebot an alkoholfreien Getränken.
Wir treffen uns im Patio in der Bahnhofstraße 11 – freut euch auf einen gemütlichen Ausklang des Tages.
