Energy is everywhere. We just have to utilise it. To do this, data on geothermal energy, wind power or solar energy must be continuously recorded and processed by various sensors in order to optimise the extraction of these renewable energies.

The aim of this project group is to develop a demonstrator for this purpose. Our sensors are SunSpot? sensor systems that are programmed with Java and transmit their data wirelessly to a base station. ODYSSEUS, the IS department's data stream management system, is to be used and possibly expanded for processing. Finally, a virtual power plant is to be realised, which will be suitably visualised, for example to enable an operator to constantly communicate the current status of his distributed energy systems.

If successful, the demonstrator will be presented at a scientific conference and/or CeBIT 2010. Following on from the project group, we offer various Diplom and Master's theses.
