Orientation of the teaching internships
Experimental internship with professional relevance
Target group: Teacher training students of physics Gym, GHR, SoPäd, WiPäd; 8 CP, Bachelor phase
The internship has two objectives. Firstly, students should further develop their physics experimentation skills after completing the basic practical course. Secondly, they should use the experiments to build up in-depth school knowledge, i.e. physical knowledge that they need in a school context; the in-depth school knowledge is a school-related extension of the specialised knowledge of the physics modules. In the practical course, students use the experiments to restructure their physics knowledge for the teaching process at school. They relate it to typical student ideas, contextualise it and design short teaching-learning sequences (for lower and upper secondary schools) in which the practical course experiments are embedded. The students' own experiences with the structure and execution, strengths and weaknesses of the experiments play an important role.
In terms of subject matter, the experiments come from classic areas of physics that are also relevant to the school core curriculum: Mechanics, ray and wave optics, electricity and electromagnetism, thermodynamics and contextualised areas such as wind physics and space travel. Digital measurement systems (Smartlink) are integrated. A special feature of the practical course is the realisation of teaching-learning sequences in the school laboratory physiXS. School classes from the region visit the laboratory, where the interns have prepared experimental stations on specific contexts (building physics; physics of plastics; renewable energies, etc.). The students guide the pupils, support their experimental processes and diagnose actions and cognitions, also in order to draw conclusions about the experimental setups.
Experimental internship for lower secondary, secondary modern and special schools
Target group: Physics teacher training students GHR, SoPäd; 6 CP, Bachelor phase
This practical course builds on practical course a), but relates to the experimental conditions at secondary schools and special schools with the specific learning requirements of pupils at these types of school. In dialogue with cooperating schools, students develop experiments and experimental environments that they implement at school but outside of regular lessons, e.g. on special research days. Topics include measuring physical quantities and the associated construction of their own (digital) measuring devices. Students first test their experiments in the university's laboratories before taking their mobile laboratory equipment to schools (phymobil_OL).
Experimental practical course for interdisciplinary subject education
Target group: students of subject teaching; 3 CP, Bachelor phase
The teaching export to subject teaching focuses on introducing students there to physical phenomena and experiments and familiarising them with basic experimentation skills. In this practical course, students also develop different experiments for primary schools and try them out with pupils in cooperating schools. Thematically, the focus is on basic physical content, elementary mechanics, forces and movements; ray optics, shadows and colours; temperature and heat equalisation processes; electricity and the generation of electricity. The content is contextualised in a phenomenon-oriented way. The construction of simple measuring devices that are used at school, e.g. to measure the weather, are also part of the practical repertoire.
