Database of hearing device head-related transfer functions

OlHeaD-HRTF Database

We present a database of Head-related Transfer functions (HRTF) in hearing devices.

It includes HRTFs to the eardrum and 13 microphone locations contained in 6 hearing device styles, recorded for 91 incidence directions in the ears of 16 human subjects and 3 dummy heads. The data is provided as .mat files for use in MATLAB/octave, as well as in the dedicated SOFA format.
For details, see the documentation.

Target Response Correction Functions

The TRCF (Target Response Correction Function) transforms the pressure at the hearing device microphone to the pressure at the open eardrum. This correction depends on the device style and microphone position, the acoustic sound field and is individual to each ear. They are useful for defining the target frequency response of a hearing device.
TRCFs for the devices in the OlHeaD-HRTF Database have been derived and evaluated for the free- and diffuse sound field. The data includes TRCFs for the individual ears, as well as generic TRCFs derived from subject averages and dummy head measurements.
For details, see: [Denk et al. 2018]

The TRCFs are provided as minimum-phase impuse responses, as utilized in the paper.
