Planning the best freshers' induction
What is important for planning?
- Getting to know the students is the most important content orientation
- Planning became more difficult during Covid
- Making contacts and exchanging ideas
- Uniform clothing or mottos support the connections
- Financing is provided by the tutors
- It is virtually free of charge for the participants
- Casting the tutors to avoid complications later on
- Topics, slogans or similar are checked beforehand and critical content is filtered. The students should feel comfortable
- Introductory course in the lecture theatre with all new students with a speech from the P
- rofessor to welcome them
- "Kindergarten-friendly" games where the focus is on fun. (e.g. tug of war)
- No games that involve alcohol. This can be done on the side
- The campus is a suitable venue
- Supervision of the groups by the tutors during the whole time
- The group size is important when choosing games
- Relevant content about the study programme is limited to the most important information
- Digital booklet with the most important information to look up if necessary
- Evaluation of the costumes etc. to have an incentive (collect points)

- Tutorial and meal together in the canteen

Tips
What makes a good event?
- It has to be fun!
- No excessive alcohol consumption
- The games must be simple and encourage participation
- A structure is important. Create a folder with all content clearly organised and accessible to everyone so that everything can be found quickly and easily
- Whatsapp group with the students to stay in contact
- Organise sponsors for the week to have more options
