The debate about the educational mission of universities has intensified again against the backdrop of the Bologna reform and the possible continuation of the Excellence Initiative.
This symposium centres on the question of the future scenario of "teaching universities for the masses and research universities for the elite": What role does biography-driven academic education play in this? What freedom can there be for the individual in the future? Do we need to rethink education in light of the development of digital media? In addition, the prospects for the university in 2030 will be analysed against the backdrop of national and international developments.
