Pupils in dialogue with experts on 14 October 2021
Due to the positive response and high demand, KlimaWissen was repeated in 2021. We are delighted that almost all of the speakers were back in October. The concept and programme of the project day on 14 October 2021 are documented below.
Climate change - what does it have to do with my life and our nature, how do scientists research climate change, what do waste and repairs have to do with the climate and how can we all make a contribution to counteracting climate change? On these and many other topics, experts will engage in an online exchange with pupils during the "Climate Knowledge" project day at KlimaTalk.
For this purpose, the experts provide a video contribution on a climate topic exclusively for the registered school classes, the content of which is discussed together in the ClimateTalk .
As climate change affects various disciplines and areas of our lives, it is also included in many school subjects. The project day therefore offers programmes for the subjects of biology, chemistry, physics, geography, German, values & standards, philosophy, economics, politics and technology, among others, and also supports pupils in their career orientation.
"KlimaWissen" is designed for pupils from year 9 to 13 and for vocational school pupils.
The online format means that participation is possible regardless of the pandemic and the corresponding action scenarios in schools. The programme can be used for independent learning, research and argumentation in addition to in-depth specialist knowledge.
How does ClimateKnowledge 2021 work?
KlimaWissen is a two-phase event format for school classes (9th to 13th grade and for vocational school students). A teacher registers a school class, a course or a working group.
First phase:
In the first phase (beginning of September), the registered teacher receives access to the selected climate lecture via a link. The teacher can then either show the video in distance/presence lessons or the students are given the task of watching the film outside of class. Until 14 October 2021, the students have the opportunity to delve deeper into the climate topic and prepare questions for the exchange in ClimateTalk.
Second phase:
The second phase will take place live, digitally and in the booked time slot on Thursday, 14 October 2021. Teachers will receive the access data for the online room for the registered KlimaTalk by email a few days in advance. During the ClimateTalk, which lasts a maximum of 60 minutes, the respective experts are available for questions and discussions. The students determine the questions. For example, they can have technical terms explained, ask about correlations or refer to everyday working life. In the video conference, questions can be asked via microphone or chat.
