The focus of the Teacher Training Centre is on the conceptual coordination, design and implementation of training courses. Important objectives are basic training courses for modern computer science teaching at lower secondary level and the promotion of high-quality teaching for various subject areas at school. In particular, the activities and training content are geared towards the introduction of Computing Science as a compulsory subject.

In addition, the coordination of schools and universities is an important part of the work in order to promote the interlinking of university education and practical teaching experiments in schools as well as to support schools in the development of computer science lessons in terms of content and materials (e.g. the loan of Lego Mindstorms robots). The stable network of Computing Science teachers in the Weser-Ems region, which was established with the help of the InTech project (Computing Science with technical aspects in school years 7-9), will continue to be maintained and expanded, for example with the help of the joint organisation of the InTech Cup.

Another focus of the work is the function as a contact for teachers, for example to support the introduction of Computing Science as a subject in schools, the organisation and implementation of further training and the lending of materials. The entire team deals with enquiries from colleagues who have taken part in training courses, for example, and have questions about practical implementation or the procurement of materials at schools. If necessary, referrals are made to other colleagues. In addition, schools and teachers are regularly informed about current offers in the region.
