Series of lectures on language-sensitive teaching and learning in the (subject) classroom Winter semester 2023/24

The role of language in (subject) teaching and learning

Winter semester 2023/24

Students, colleagues, but also external interested parties are cordially invited to our second series of lectures Language-sensitive teaching and learning in the (subject) classroomin which we want to promote interdisciplinary discourse on the language-forming and language-promoting role of (subject) teaching with recognised external speakers. The series of lectures will be offered in hybrid form (face-to-face/online).

There is now a consensus that linguistic and subject-related learning are closely linked and that every lesson must therefore also focus on the linguistic side of teaching. The series of lectures brings together educational science, subject and language didactics perspectives on the role of language in teaching and learning processes and addresses the complexity of school learning situations in the context of linguistic heterogeneity. In addition to the question of the competences to be learnt, existing concepts, research results and approaches for different subjects (including biology, physics, science, literature, history, philosophy/values and norms, sport) and different school levels are discussed. This gives students an interdisciplinary insight into research on language in the subject as well as practical problems and applications in schools and universities.

The lecture is intended to strengthen students' key competences in the field of subject-integrated language education and support/German as a second and foreign language. Students should thus gain an interdisciplinary insight into research and school practice at the interface between language and subject .

The course (no. 3.01.109) is located in the area of specialisation (pb316, pb331, pb332) or as an interdisciplinary module (ipb611) and can be attended by students from all School departments. Students can find the course under the course number 3.01.1091 in Stud.IP. The offer of online participation via BBB is aimed at external participants and guests.

The series of lectures is organised by colleagues from the Institute for German Studies. The DiZ Research Academy provides the organisational framework for the event.
