Videos have been increasingly used as a medium in teacher training in recent years to support the professionalisation of prospective teachers. There are now many projects and initiatives at German universities that are developing and testing a wide range of scenarios for the use of videos in teacher training. At the University of Oldenburg, too, many lecturers and some projects, such as the "Video-based teaching reflection" project anchored in the diz, are working on the use of videos in teaching.

As videos are also increasingly being used for various training purposes in the second and third phases of training and Oldenburg's teacher training programme focuses in particular on cross-phase, connectable professionalisation, the Didactic Centre initiated a cross-phase exchange between the first and second phases of training in March 2017, which is now being continued in the form of biannual network meetings.

The aim of the network meetings is to benefit from the experiences of other people in teacher training across all phases. We see added value in an exchange of ideas, for example, in reflecting on the potential and variants for the use of videos in teacher training in general as well as with regard to the focus of reflection in the respective training phases, exchanging curricular approaches and content-methodological concepts and for the use of videos as a teaching-learning medium or also receiving information, tips and suggestions for practical implementation.
