Information on FREDI testing in infants as part of the Early SOCo-Brain Study

The FREDI test is a playfully designed development test that is carried out at the corrected age of 18 months by the psychologist Dörte Janssen at the Oldenburg Children's Hospital.

As you already learnt during your stay, the FREDI test is used as part of the emotional-social-cognitive study. The test is used to better understand the cognitive and emotional development of premature babies. The neuropsychologist will evaluate the social-emotional development, emotion regulation and self-control, as well as the ego development of your child with the help of a hand puppet and in a playful examination atmosphere.

The examination takes about 30 minutes and is not stressful. No blood samples or x-rays are taken. Participation in the test is voluntary. A bank transfer from the paediatrician or a medical certificate is not necessary, the costs are borne by the hospital.

You will be contacted by us at the time of the test with a letter containing all information, the address and a suggested date.

We consider this examination to be very important in the context of the study and look forward to your willingness to support us and visit us again with your child.

We look forward to seeing you and your child!
