Without water, there is no life. It's not just us humans who need water, but also animals and plants. Groundwater is the most utilised raw material of all, a well-hidden and secret treasure. It is important to look after this invisible treasure so that our groundwater remains clean and there is enough for everyone.
The water on our planet is on a perpetual round trip, but how does it continue its journey underground and where does it ultimately reappear? Our drinking water also comes largely from groundwater, which is found underground in layers of gravel and sand. On its journey through these natural filters, the water is purified, but can also become unusable due to pollution.
What exactly happens during the groundwater's journey and what route does the water take to ensure that it is available in sufficient quantities as a matter of course? And what can we all do to ensure that it stays that way? We will find answers to these questions together in the lecture.
