Games in teaching (game-based learning)
Game-based learning uses playful elements to convey learning content and increase student motivation. Learners have to master different levels of difficulty, receive rewards or immerse themselves in a story that only progresses by solving puzzles.
By using interactive games, complex concepts can be conveyed in a clear and entertaining way. Students have the opportunity to actively learn by solving problems, making decisions and facing challenges.
Game-based learning not only promotes students' understanding, but also their creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It also provides a dynamic learning environment that adapts to students' individual needs and learning speed.
For an introduction to the topic, you are welcome to listen to our podcast episode "Gamification and Virtual Reality" . There you will also find selected literature on the topic of gamification in teaching. In addition, we present two game-based teaching formats from our School, the Virtual Emergency Department and the Neurology Escape Room, in short audio contributions.
We have also created a collection of links to freely accessible games in an educational context as a padlet. Most of the content presented can be played in the browser without registration. However, please note the data protection information of the individual applications and do not enter any personal data.
