USA, Wilmington: University of North Carolina Wilmington
The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is part of the state-run University of North Carolina System, which comprises a total of 17 universities.
The university is located in the harbour town of Wilmington in New Hanover County (population approx. 120,000) on the east coast of the USA, just a few minutes from Wrightsville Beach, and has around 16,500 students. It offers a wide range of Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral programmes.
There are more than 260 clubs and teams at UNCW through which exchange students can experience traditional American campus life. With over 30 fraternities and sororities, Greek Life at UNCW is very traditional. UNCW writes about itself: "UNCW has evolved into a nationally ranked university recognised for its commitment to excellence, student-centered learning experiences, diversity, innovation and community engagement."
Academically, UNCW is very similar to the University of Oldenburg. It has four colleges (Arts and Sciences, Health and Human Services, Business, Education), and almost all degree programmes offered by the University of Oldenburg can also be found at UNCW. It specialises in education, economics and marine sciences.
Oldenburg students are welcome to enrol on the Bachelor's degree programmes.
