Mathematical formulae

Display mathematical formulas with MathJax

The solution provided by www.mathjax.org/ can be used to display mathematical formulae in web pages, e.g:

$$x = {-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} \over 2a}.$$

Formula descriptions in MathML, TeX/LaTeX and AsciiMath formats can be used as source data. The required syntax can be found at docs.mathjax.org/.

Prerequisite: Integrate the MathJax functionality

To ensure that the formulae entered are automatically displayed "nicely", the MathJax script must be integrated into every page where the formulae are used. Proceed as follows:

At the end of the main content column, create a new content block of the type Insert data sets, to be found under [Special elements]. In the search field, simply enter mathjax and search for the hits whose path is /datapool/script/. Select "MathJAX" by clicking on it, it will then appear in the "Data sets" box.

Now save and close this content element - this completes the preparation. From now on, formulas that you enter within text elements on the page will be converted automatically.
