The ability to move safely and independently is an important prerequisite for a self-determined life. In old age, however, it can easily happen that this ability is restricted by
muscle loss. Regular physical activity to maintain strength and balance is therefore particularly important in this phase of life.
As part of the Bella study ("Better living through lifelong activity"), we offer you the opportunity to learn an easy exercise programme that can prevent muscle loss and can be implemented in daily life.
From July 2016 to November 2017, we are looking for people aged 70 and over for the Bella study. The first study phase will be as follows:
- You will visit the study centre at the University of Oldenburg, which is located in Uhlhornsweg and Ammerländer Heerstraße, five times. During these visits, you will perform simple movement tests and learn together with other participants how to carry out the exercise programme correctly. You will be guided by specialised medical staff. The approximately one-hour visits to our study centre take place over a period of 10-12 weeks.
- After the training, you will receive the exercise catalogue to take home with you and will be asked to continue the training programme in your everyday life for a period of 12 weeks.
- During this time, you will complete a questionnaire once a week. Among other things, we would like to find out how you have been able to implement the programme at home.
If you are interested and would like to try out the exercise programme in combination with technology at a later date, please contact us now: We are also looking for study participants aged 70 and over for the subsequent
study phases, in which technology will be used, from autumn 2016.
