Protocol: Workshop I - Awareness
Protocol: Workshop I - Awareness
Awareness
- What does this mean, how can you behave correctly in everyday life, how can you implement this in the FSR? How can you introduce what you have learnt into FSR work?
- Introduction and sensitisation about the situation in Bielefeld
- Definition of awareness is presented - how is it dealt with in psychology? Internal awareness and external awareness differentiated
- How is the topic dealt with in our society? Awareness in everyday life?
- How are we more privileged? (Question in the discussion round):
- Harassment in the student council context, context of alcohol, poor perception of the situation
- Migration background, example of a party in the student body context, actions regarding exclusion of people from the student body and activities and co-operation with the university is presented
Stina gives examples from the past and how this is dealt with, especially in the context of planning and the organisation team and also internally in the FSR
- Examples are given, especially from the context of first-year students
- Examples from internationals: student council minutes are now translated into English to facilitate communication
- Example that meetings are also only held in English to integrate internationals in particular
- Example of everyday situations in which one supposedly wants to be funny but does not understand the external effects of statements
- Example of privileged situation in which people in the FSR find themselves
- Example of believing that no matter how aware you are about sensitivity etc. because there will always be assaults, it is important to have people who are there for you in such situations and awareness of such situations is trained, focus on not meant maliciously
- Example of an (anonymous) reporting system for such situations
- Example of alleged sexual harassment of first-year students, but always just rumour, which makes it difficult to find out what really happened, very difficult to process
- Discussion regarding the handling of the discussion, how to deal with such an issue (exclusion from activities etc.)
Focus back on discussion on awareness outside the gender context
Examples of how the FSR Uol deals with Stina, sensitivity, topic must be taken seriously, boundaries must be generally accepted
- Contribution that briefing of tutors and structures are criticised: how can workshop be better organised and a healthy atmosphere outside the structures be created
- Discussion about dealing with the topic taken up again
- Discussion that anonymity often protects and only internal discussions help
Stina's example of how to deal with the annual O-week and how to sensitise tutors to the topic and very positive result, but at the same time a difficult situation that was also handled very positively by tutors
- Example of red and blue list regarding the handling of o-weeks
- The question is raised as to who exactly can create such a list or is in a position to do so?
- Example: via the FSR, smaller circle of the FSR
- List of the FSR Council is created and coordinated with the Executive Board
- (Openness of the Council's sensitivity to change is questioned)
End:
Sensitisation for the topic must continue and awareness must be created for how the topic can be dealt with better, especially against the background of the FSR structures.
