Minutes: Workshop I - Recruitment for the Rasselbande
Minutes: Workshop I - Recruitment for the Rasselbande
Recruiting offspring for the rascal gang
- Workshop leaders: Helen Schmidt (Hohenheim), Daniel Weingärtner (Dortmund)
- Recorder: Ivo Steinke (University of Göttingen)
Round of introductions of the participants
All participants introduce themselves by name, university, degree programme and their goals for the workshop Workshop leaders request that it does not become a lecture, but that everyone works together
Topic 1: Why is young talent important? Problems during the pandemic? What problems were there?
- A lot has been lost due to Corona (getting new people in, keeping old ones)
- Many new tasks for too few new hands
Topic 2: Optimal size of student councils
- Some people there - but it's always the same people doing things
- Partly because certain actions have to start up again first
- It is often mentioned that there is only ever one core that really does the hard work
- It hasn't necessarily become smaller, but there is mainly less initiative being shown
- In Göttingen, the separation of the O-Phase/student body means that less work falls to the people in the student body
- Also has disadvantages, as the majority join the O-Phase
Topic 3: Opportunities for recruiting young talent
- Internal: Plan events to recruit young talent, even with a minus
- Problems that young people are now more shy
- Mentor system: Every new student is explicitly assigned a mentor
- Don't overwhelm first-year students with university politics at the beginning
- Extra evening during the O-week for the start (possibly outside the university)
- Also advertise with academic activities, e.g. experiences of the student representatives, every student representative has already taken the modules that the first-year students are now taking and can help.
- Many drop out because the university workload is underestimated by first-year students
- Focus on 3rd/4th semester?
Topic 4: Opportunities to generate young talent sustainably
- Nobody should be separated
- Differentiation between a student body and an unregistered association
- Contribution from David from Göttingen for questions
- Give people the effort they want to make themselves
- Respond to requests and distribute the tasks they want to have
- Uni Regensburg: There is a SAUFBEAUFTRAGTEN
- Tasks: Plan activities for after the meetings, e.g. Flunkyball to integrate people into the existing circle of friends
- Luring people with alcohol still works best
- How to combine the two factions: Those who only want to work and those who only want to drink?
- Differentiation between phases where only work is done and "fun phases"
- General key competences taught by the student body, e.g. 5 credits for student body (commitment)
- Credits only if you write a seminar paper and have really done something beforehand and collected points
