Once again this year, second-semester computer science students and students from other degree programmes are working on exciting projects in the context of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This week, over 60 students presented their project ideas in interim presentations and showcased illustrative low-tech prototypes. The projects range from smart irrigation systems and water-saving showers with a timer function to a patient-centred, smart medicine box. We look forward to the presentation of the finished projects at the end of the semester!
As part of the two-semester course ‘Soft Skills and Technical Competence’, students acquire important computer science-specific and key skills for the rest of their degree, which they can apply in a group project during the summer semester. These include, amongst other things, hardware-oriented programming, the fundamentals of electrical engineering, 3D modelling, time and project management, and presentation techniques.
