Flower characteristics: | female: inconspicuous catkins; male: conspicuous in hanging clusters (similar to the holm oak(Quercus ilex)) |
Fruit: | Acorn; fruit cup with greyish-felt, loosely connate scales |
Special features: | In cultivation for cork production, first cork harvest after approx. 25 years, then possible every 10 - 12 years |
