Violeta Dinescu is not only a music professor at the University of Oldenburg, but also a well-known composer. She composes music for adults, but also for children. Her opera "Der 35. Mai oder Konrad reitet in die Südsee", based on the book of the same name by Erich Kästner, was performed for the first time at the Mannheim National Theatre and has also been performed with great success at the Vienna State Opera, the Semperoper in Dresden, the State Theatre in Munich, the Stuttgart State Opera and elsewhere. Shown? Not only shown, of course, but above all heard, because the music is at the centre of an opera. That's why listening is particularly important. In this lecture, Violeta Dinescu will tell you how the opera "The 35th of May..." was created and how music can tell stories.
