Mysterious sounds or: Who is hiding in the piano?

It grinds, rattles, scrapes and rings - the piano seems to be possessed by a wild spirit. There is not a familiar note to be found. Is this still normal?

Many composers in the last century have deliberately altered the sound of the grand and upright pianos. They have written compositions for these special instruments and performed them to the great astonishment and protest of those around them.

We want to familiarise ourselves with these acoustic peculiarities. To do this, we will immerse ourselves in the history of the piano. This will allow us to find out for ourselves how sounds are created and how they can be changed.

Of course, there will be small demonstrations during the lecture - and we will hear a story told by our piano itself!
