Access to the LOOOP platform(looop-share.charite.de) for sharing links to existing digital resources is now available to all faculties free of charge. Links are sorted thematically in LOOOP and can be assigned to subjects and cross-sectional areas as well as mapped against the NKLM. All you have to do is register.
Information on Stud.IP
Basics
Stud.IP is the learning management system at the University of Oldenburg, which is available to all teaching staff to support courses. It offers a wide range of supporting functions and tools that you can use to organise your (digital) teaching.
The following video shows you how to access Stud.IP and which functions are available to you in the header. Please switch to full screen mode and then use the bookmarks at the bottom left to go to the relevant parts of the video.
Use of Stud.IP for digital teaching
In this quick guide you will find information on how to access Stud.IP and your course, as well as the basic functions for organisational and communicative usage options for your course. On this page, we have also compiled further information on plugins and other applications for digital teaching. You are also welcome to register as a non-binding participant for the corresponding event Digital Teaching School VI. There you can familiarise yourself directly with all the basic functions of the learning management system.
A help function can be called up in Stud.IP for each function/tool. To do this, click on the
symbol at the top right. A menu with tips and help will then open, providing basic information. For further help, click on the help tours at the bottom of the menu. These will then take you to the corresponding chapter in Stud.IP Help.
If a plugin is not activated in your course on StudIP, you can activate it via the Administration tab in your course. There you will also find further tools on the subject of teaching/learning organisation, communication and collaboration, content and assignments etc. and activate these by ticking the box next to "This plugin is inactive" for the desired plugin. The selected tool then appears in the tab overview of the course and can continue to be used there.
Communication via Stud.IP
Communicate online with the student group, e.g. via email or offer online office hours via Big Blue Button. Both give students the opportunity to clarify technical and organisational questions
The following tools for communicating with students are already integrated in Stud.IP:
- Email: the easiest way to communicate with students in StudIP.
- Question forum/discussion forum (asynchronous). Encourage students to ask questions directly in StudIP, e.g. in the forum, and answer questions that you receive by email publicly in the forum. This way they can be viewed by everyone.
- Wiki/FAQ (asynchronous) Encourage students to answer each other's questions (peer teaching). However, give the students feedback as to whether the question has been answered correctly.
- Group chat (synchronous)
- Big Blue Button (synchronous), as a video consultation/individualoffice hours to clarify personal questions and receive individual advice and feedback. Ideally, you should supervise students at a fixed (possibly regular) time and announce this in advance.
Please consider the following aspects when providing digital support for your course:
- Establish contact points in your course: let students know where you will provide important information and clarify in advance how they can ideally get in contact with you.
- Establish direct, equal communication with everyone (do not communicate with individual students). If you only hold individual course dates, use your slides (and an announcement if necessary) to pass on this information.
Video conferences (webinars)
Stud.IP offers the possibility to hold video conferences (webinars) via the tool "The Big Blue Button". You can use this communication platform to enter into a direct exchange with students. Communication takes place within the framework of a virtual event: Students and lecturers enter the room online and can communicate with each other via a microphone and have a picture of themselves transmitted via webcam. If you are only listening, you can also have a chat. A webcam and microphone are therefore not absolutely necessary.
A brief guide to using the communication platform "The Big Blue Button" and ways to integrate it into your course can be found here, a more detailed guide can be found at e-didactics.
Courseware - Create online learning units
With Courseware, you can convert your courses into online self-study modules. These can stand alone or be designed in combination with a face-to-face event (e.g. to prepare for it). Courseware offers a wide range of options for structuring teaching content using text blocks, video sequences, tasks (requires the Vips plugin), communication elements and much more.
At the beginning of September 2022, Courseware was completely redesigned with a Stud.IP update. The previous structure of chapters, subchapters and sections has been simplified and there are now only pages. These pages can then be organised and subpages created. The somewhat complicated previous navigation is no longer necessary. It is also possible to create an attractively designed overview of all content. A further update was made in March 2024, which primarily simplified the sorting of pages and content. You can find an example of a redesigned courseware unit here.

The content is still arranged in different blocks on the pages. This can be simple text, but also videos, quizzes, pdf documents and various types of graphics. New after the update is the possibility of a much more flexible arrangement of the blocks, e.g. next to each other instead of one below the other. You can find an overview of the latest version of the courseware on the University Didactics website. Here you will also find video recordings of all lunchtime meetings on the innovations in Stud.IP and Courseware and the corresponding presentations as pdf files.
We will also be happy to help you personally with the creation of your self-study unit and advise you individually.
Vips Online - Creation and of exercises and tests (written exams)
Exercises, tests and written exams can be prepared and made available online in Vips. Teachers receive an overview of which student has completed an exercise or test and with what result. In contrast to conventional exercise slips or exam sheets, all texts are clearly legible and organised in Vips. Teachers immediately get an overview of what still needs to be corrected. In addition to common question types such as multiple choice and free text answers, Vips also has more unusual but didactically useful question types such as cloze text and assignment.
You can find instructions on the e-didactics pages.
