Whiteboards, i.e. digital boards, are very suitable for collaborative work in small groups. Brainstorming can take place on the whiteboard, ideas can be collected and sorted and results can be presented at the end. In a seminar, for example, you can also share preparatory tasks on a whiteboard with the participants, who can then add their answers directly. Whiteboards help to visualise learning content with images, graphics and diagrams. At the end, the board can be saved, presented and exported in various formats. Several people can work on the content of the board at the same time or with a time delay and thus work on results together.

You can use the following tools to create digital whiteboards on which you can write, draw and, in some cases, upload files:

• The whiteboard in Big Blue Button can be used for notes and drawings. In multi-user mode, it can also be used by participants.
• Collaboard is available to employees of universities in Lower Saxony. Collaboard is GDPR-compliant and uses exclusively European servers. The service is data-efficient and relies on Data Centres that are powered by renewable energy. To use the service, you must log in with your user ID (in the format abcd1234) and your password. You may also need to log in to the Academic Cloud with your UOL user data beforehand. As soon as the page has loaded, you will be offered a video that provides an overview of the basic functions. • Miro lite can be used as a whiteboard, pinboard or mindap, works without registration and is GDPR-compliant. However, this only applies to the "lite" version, where the board is only available for 24 hours.
