It is often sufficient to use your own mobile phone and the corresponding integrated app for video recordings. Alternatively, you can borrow a camera from us. The following applications are useful for creating and editing (cutting, dubbing) videos on the computer. This could be a screen recording that you generate from your lecture slides, a programme that you explain on your screen or a re-registering student video in which you give re-registration on a document.
Applications for a screen recording
- The recording function of Power Point (from 2010) is well suited for dubbing existing presentations. You can find instructions as a video or pdf here.
- The free tool OpenCast is available in StudIP, but can also be used directly via the internet browser without registration.
- OBS-Studio is free of charge and there are many setting options for sound and screen. It looks very complicated at first, but is actually very easy to use. ( Video to get started)
- Further information on screen recording can be found here.
Programmes for editing videos:
- Olive is a fairly simple video editor for cutting, background colouring etc.
- DaVinci Resolve is a free editing software that offers many functions, but you will need some time to familiarise yourself with it as a beginner.
- CapCut is also free and easy to use and enables cutting, transitions and other basic functions.
- If you use a Macbook, the iMovie app offers many video editing options and is intuitive to use.
- The free Clips app, which also allows you to insert text, filters and subtitles and is intuitive to use, is suitable for editing video recordings with an Apple iPhone or iPad.
