I studied psychology and philosophy at the universities of Trier, Bielefeld, Vienna and Münster. At the University of Münster, I completed my doctorate in the subject of psychology with a thesis on linguistic events in psychotherapy conversations (a long time ago), at the University of Bielefeld I habilitated in the subject of educational science with a thesis on (multiple) affiliations in the migration society, at the centre of which is an attempt at a theoretical explication of the expression natio-ethno-cultural affiliation.
From March 2008 to September 2011, I held the professorship for Intercultural Learning and Social Change at the Institute of Educational Science at the University of Innsbruck. Since October 2011, I have been a professor at the Institute of Educational Sciences at the University of Oldenburg, where I am also Director of the Centre for Migration, Education and Cultural Studies.
My teaching and research interests include the areas of migration education, educational professionalism, educational research and methodological and methodological questions of interpretation.
