Title: Morphology and structure adaptation of hydrochar
One way of synthesizing carbon-based materials is by hydrothermal carbonization. In HTC, a biomass is heated with water in a high-pressure reactor at temperatures between 130-250°C so that the water automatically builds up pressure. The resulting product is hydrochar. This process is similar to natural coal formation. The major advantage of HTC is that the hydrochar is usually synthesized within a few hours, whereas the natural coal formation process takes several million years.
