Since the start of the 2026 summer term, Aqua Citizens has been taking place weekly at the IGS Flötenteich in Oldenburg. Pupils in the sixth class were able to choose, as part of an elective course, whether they wanted to work on their own projects or take part in Aqua Citizens. We are delighted that 21 children have shown enthusiasm for the project. There are seven groups of three in total, which are now being supported by our team in developing and implementing their project ideas. For example, one group is surveying households in the region about their water usage habits, whilst another is taking water samples from various lakes to assess water quality and its impact on the lake as a habitat. By the end of the school year, all groups should have carried out several small projects. Ultimately, they should also have developed a product resulting from these small projects. Possible outcomes include newspaper articles, presentations at town and school festivals, developed products and action guides. We can’t wait to see the results!
