Aqua Citizens has been taking place weekly at IGS Flötenteich in Oldenburg since the start of the 2026 summer school term. As part of a compulsory elective course, sixth-year pupils were able to choose whether they wanted to pursue their own projects or take part in Aqua Citizens. We are delighted that 21 children were enthusiastic about the project. There are a total of seven groups of three, which are now being supported by our team in developing and realising their project ideas. For example, one group is surveying households in the region about their water usage behaviour and another group is taking water samples from various lakes to test the water quality and its impact on the lake as a habitat. By the end of the school year, all groups should have realised several small projects. At the end, they should also have developed a product resulting from these small projects. Conceivable ideas include newspaper articles, appearances at town and school festivals, developed products and guidelines for action. We are excited!
