The double Lottchen

A research play freely adapted from Erich Kästner (1949/2013)
Ages 8 and up

In a holiday home in Seebühl on Lake Bühlsee, two girls, Luise and Lotte, get to know each other and realise that they look very much alike. They soon find out that this resemblance is no coincidence, because they are twins. But why did their parents separate them? To uncover the secret, Luise and Lotte decide on a ruse: Luise travels as Lotte to her previously unknown mother in Munich, while Lotte travels as Luise to her father in Vienna.

Together with the theatre education department of the Oldenburg State Theatre, children aged 10 to 12 have investigated how the "I" becomes the "I" and the "you" becomes the "you". Using scenic techniques, they transformed everyday family situations into experimental scenarios. The results of these investigations were incorporated into the development of the multimedia play.
