From the shawm to the saxophone
From the shawm to the saxophone
2nd family concert
From 6 years old
In the Middle Ages, the characteristic mewling sound of the shawm filled not only fairs but also court festivities. Instrument makers created the clarinet through numerous further developments, which was to become an important melody instrument with its warm sound and wide range.
The family of clarinets ranges from the sonorous basset horn to the huge concert bass clarinet and the jazzy saxophone. The solo clarinettist of the Oldenburg State Orchestra, Antonia Lorenz, will introduce the clarinet and its sister instruments in this family concert together with bass clarinet specialist and saxophonist Theo Nabicht.
