REPTILE EXPRESSION
REPTILE EXPRESSION is a creative project that offers artists of different artistic orientations a platform to come together in a synergetic creative process. We experiment with different formats and give all participants space for artistic self-realisation. The audience is given the opportunity to come into contact with a wide variety of art forms and artists. For the festival Music of the Gardens the creative collective consists of Almut Siepmann aka AllyChristian Frerichs aka The Tunnel (www.der-tunnel.com), Cid McKinley and Max Li (www.facebook.com/MaxLiMusic)who perform their own compositions in singer-songwriter style.
Reptile Expression was formed in 2014 after Christian Frerich's songwriting workshop at Oldenburg's theatre UNIKUM (www.facebook.com/TheaterUnikum) was created. Crackerjacks
Crackerjacks - a trio that couldn't be crazier! The three of them are blind masters of their craft and inspire the audience with their joy of playing and passion for music! Songs from the fields of rock, pop, punk, rock'n'roll and classic rock are reinterpreted acoustically. Christoph Bruns started the unplugged project. But since making music alone is "boring", he was able to recruit Rainer Henkenborg on the cajon. The two have known each other for 4 years - and have really grown together through the music! They share a close friendship and an absolute love of playing. Jessica Wetjen completes the trio. With her soft and soulful voice, she puts the finishing touch to the acoustic band! The three of them are on the road throughout Germany, performing in cafés, bars, pubs, festivals and open-air events. The audience can look forward to an energetic and unforgettable show.
Chrisses
After many years of experience in different formations, Christina Broo and Chris Janssen were both looking for a new project and were introduced to each other by a musician friend. They experimented with their own song ideas during the very first rehearsal and founded the acoustic duo "Chrisses" (www.chrisses.de) in August 2012. The goal was immediately clear: an album with their own acoustic songs! In December 2015, they presented their first joint album of the same name, "Chrisses".
The duo's stage programme consists of their own acoustic compositions and offers a musical spectrum of pop, rock, soul and jazz. At various gigs they have performed in northern Germany and NRW, they have supplemented this with selected cover songs. The combination of sensitive, multi-faceted guitar playing and expressive, soulful vocals forms an unmistakable unity.
Both musicians agree: "Chrisses is the best thing that could have happened to us musically. We are now doing exactly what we always wanted to do!".
Lyrical Waves
What connects 5 people born in 5 different decades?
Music. Nathalie, Nicole, Matthias, Andreas and Uli have found each other in this certainly very rare combination. Popular ballads, pop or rock songs, e.g. by Snow Patrol, Razorlight, REM, Pink Floyd, The Who or America are washed over by lyrical waves and presented to the audience in their very own sound. The audience is first gently caressed by the waves, only to be swept away by roaring surf the next moment.
Line-up: Andeas Plump - guitar, vocals; Nicole Westermann - Git., Voc; Nathalie Plump - Piano; Matthias Kasper - Bass; Uli Dennig - Cajon, Vibrandoneon, Voc.
Tearjerkers
Die Tränendiebe are a band based in Oldenburg that has existed in its core constellation since October 2013.
Some people claim that their kind of music is "beautiful pop music", others think it might be pop or occasionally almost country... Die Tränendiebe say it's simply their music! Authentic, soulful, full of energy and most importantly - remaining true to their versatile style and so far exclusively with German lyrics!
The multi-faceted compositions from the pen of guitarist Uwe Fleischhauer and his soulful German lyrics go hand in hand with the incomparable voice of singer Melanie Weishäupl directly under the skin.
After the Tränendiebe took a real band into the studio for the new vinyl album, Melanie Weishäupl and Uwe Fleischhauer are now delighted to be able to present their programme live with a full line-up including drums, bass and keyboards.
OL-SCHOOL
The hip hop project "OL-School" was born when Andreas and Thomas met at work and quickly realised that music was their great passion. As it quickly became clear that the common denominator was hip hop, but Andreas had previously only rapped to self-produced beats and Thomas only lent his voice to self-written songs, the two decided to start a joint band project. After an advert was placed, Dave, who has been listening to hip hop for ages and provides variety with his electric drumset, got in touch. Only a suitable bass player is still being sought. As none of the three can be pinned down to one musical style, they play everything from funk to rock and so on. However, as all three are particularly committed to old school hip hop and feel at home in Oldenburg, the name of the band was soon decided: OL-SCHOOL!
Tom Shadow
The Oldenburg acoustic duo "Tom Shadow" celebrated their premiere just over a year ago with a small concert. The two musicians met rather by chance at a rehearsal. What followed was the realisation that they should have met earlier. That's life! But a motto for the duo was quickly found: Handmade music, without technical bells and whistles, that's how it should be!
At the centre of their performances is their own song material, which Thomas has mainly written during his travels around the world. "Tom Shadow" wants to be be authentic, "real". The band wants to play music that is perceived by the listeners as real, original, unbent and unaffected.
When is a good concert actually a great concert? Quite simply: when the audience has the impression that there is no better place for the band than on stage. This is the case with "Tom Shadow".
The band members: Thomas Oberschelp - guitar, mandolin, vocals Carsten Bunjes - guitar, vocalsg
50 ways
The trio came together about 1/2 year ago: Thomas Luhmann, Wardenburg (guitar, vocals), Uli Dennig, Jade (cajon, ukulele, vibrandoneon, vocals) and Wolfgang Hitschler, Wardenburg, (bass), all three experienced musicians. Thomas Luhmann is a lyricist, composer and founding member of the Showcase Musical Theatre in Oldenburg. Uli Dennig founded the acoustic stage in the Hahnenknooper Mühle in April and also plays at the Lyrical Waves in Nordenham. Wolfgang Hitschler has also been on the road for many years with other bands, including Zebu and the Gnus and Uli's Garage.
Musically, ranges from Simon & Garfunkel, Milow and Styx to Avicii, Chris Rea and the Red Hot Chili Pepper. The trio gives the songs their own guise with original arrangements, which can sometimes be 50 kilometres away from the original. The fact that rarely heard instruments such as the ukulele and vibrandoneon are used alongside polyphonic vocals adds to the special appeal.
Men with guitars
Men with guitars, that's acoustic rock and pop at its best. We are an acoustic trio from Oldenburg and play our own songs. These are intelligent German lyrics set to rousing melodies, performed by a terrific singer. They are accompanied by pithy guitar grooves from two outstanding guitarists who have a perfect command of the interplay between rhythm and lead guitar. Sometimes all three band members pick up the guitar, which explains the name of the band. From groovy rock to soulful songs, there is something for everyone. Pictures and audio samples can be found at: www.mmg-unplugged.de.
The Ol' Green Spirit
Hendrik Eischeid (guitar, vocals, bodrhan), Oliver Bohlen (violin, viola) and Florian Masche (vocals, violin, guitar) are "The Ol` Green Spirit". The boys from Oldenburg share an enthusiasm for Irish and Scottish folk music - and this musical denominator has brought them together. Varied, traditional and refreshingly new, they offer a colourful programme that invites you to shake a leg.
round about blues
round about blues: Bandleader Martin Flindt is actually known in the North German music scene as a jazz guitarist. In this formation with Nils Gerhards (drums & vocals) and Malte Dankwart (bass), he can be heard in a completely different context. The trio covers songs by John Mayer and Eric Gales, for example, or plays their own versions of well-known songs such as "With a little help from my friends". The stylistic centre of the energetic music is blues, spiced up with funk, soul, jazz and a pinch of pop.
Hometown
Hometown - this is the name of the band that started out as a school band at the "House Of Music Education" - H.O.M.E for short - and Oldenburg describes the band's home town. Eight young musicians have come together around band leader Hauke Quaer to gain band experience together. to gain band experience together. What started out as a project can now rightly call itself a full-fledged band. The musicians, aged between 15 and 27, are of course the The musicians, aged between 15 and 27, give the band its sound with their enthusiasm and creativity. In addition to own arrangements of well-known pop songs, soul, rock and even original compositions can be can be expected. There are no limits to the imagination - so the R'n'B title "Bang Bang" into a lounge number and Michael Jackson's "Man In the Mirror" is given a fresh with a modern sound. Hometown stands for Oldenburg - the botanical garden as a part of the city is therefore a successful location for the band.
