School laboratory: ATB workshop
Welcome to the homepage of the ATB Workshop (ATB = Arbeitsgruppe Technische Bildung), the technical student laboratory at the University of Oldenburg. The ATB workshop is a student laboratory integrated into the teacher training programme for the subject of technology at the University of Oldenburg. The focus of this learning location is on product-oriented teaching content (such as the production of loudspeaker boxes, digital circuits for remote control of LED strips via smartphones or repair tasks) as well as digitisation-related offers in the context of automation technology (robotics, microcontroller programming in various contexts). This should not be seen as a fixed programme structure, as the subject areas are also oriented towards current research and development projects, which makes it possible to include new methodically and didactically prepared technologies in the programmes (see, for example, the Robonatives project).
Students have the opportunity to accompany primary and secondary school pupils in these production processes and gain teaching experience in the role of a teacher in various course formats on different subject areas. The teaching and learning processes of the pupils and students are therefore equally at the centre of the learning location.
From planning to final completion, pupils learn about the various work steps required to realise their ideas in the student lab. Machines such as laser cutters or 3D printers enable the rapid realisation of complex shapes and a contemporary insight into today's manufacturing processes.
