Let’s go on strike! Let’s take part in the university day of action! Call for a rally and demonstration!
Dear colleagues,
No offer, no respect: the second round of collective bargaining with the TdL ended without a concrete offer. Instead, we were presented with a vague ‘range of solutions’, a long term running until 2028, the threat of zero-pay months and no minimum amount. For junior staff and student employees too, the TdL falls far short of our demands. One thing is clear: your wages need a real catch-up – now it all comes down to joint pressure.
That is why the ver.di trade union is calling on the University of Oldenburg and the Studierendenwerk Oldenburg to join a joint strike day on 28 January.
Schedule for the strike day/university action day:
10:30 am: Meeting point for strikers at Wechloy campus – making placards & strike materials
11:45 am: Opening rally at Wechloy campus
from 12:00 pm: March to the Haarentor campus
12.40 pm: Closing rally at the Haarentor campus
Until 2.00 pm: Joint wrap-up with food and hot drinks
You can, of course, also take part in the march and rally during your free time, i.e. your lunch break!

Important: You are called upon to strike for the whole day from 5:00 am. This means: You do not have to work before the programme begins or after it ends.

Important information about the warning strike
- The right to strike applies to everyone! Even non-union members!
- Trainees are also allowed to strike!
- Student assistants are also allowed to strike!
- On the day of the strike, the obligation to work is suspended.
- The strike call applies from 5:00 am, even if the programme starts later!
- Anyone who normally starts earlier or works longer hours is completely exempt from the obligation to work from 5:00 am.
- It is not necessary to inform your line manager in advance.
- Please clock in as usual, but do not continue working afterwards.
- If asked about your participation afterwards, please answer truthfully.
- Trade union members will receive strike pay if the strike day is deducted from their wages.

What can you do?: Pass on the information and calls to strike to your colleagues and speak to your team!
Please note: It is a well-known tactic of employers to spread misinformation about strike rights in the run-up to strikes in order to cause uncertainty. Do not let this deter you – your right to strike is protected.
Strike attendance registration: To ensure everything runs smoothly and quickly on Wednesday, you can register in advance at ‘meine.verdi.de’. Instructions can also be found in the attachment. Everything else will be sorted on the day!
